Fantastic session today! You really show how you are different from the other REITs teachers out there who only know theory. Your deep expertise coupled with decades of experience shone through today. As they say it is only in times of adversity you can distinguish the men from the boys. Thanks for sharing your insights and more importantly your strategy for challenging times! Your session was worth 10X what we paid for!

I have been attending REITS talks and seminars over the years, largely those organised by SGX.  Prior to last Saturday, I have been using largely micro criteria to evaluate REITS - NPI Growth, DPU Growth, Gearing. Of course, have a spread of REITS across the different categories (Industrial, Retail, Healthcare, DC, Hospitality).

For me there were 3 big takeaways from Saturday’s Seminar:

1. Macro factors i.e. the 10-year & 30-year Government Bond Prices (and related factors such as GDP Growth, Employment Numbers, Payroll Number, etc)  and their correlation to the REITS Index

2. The need to take advantage of cycles in the REITS market in order to make a few more percentage points (I have been largely a ‘buy & hold’ investor!)

3. Close scrutiny of REIT Manager’s acquisitions

As I’m now moving into retiring (in the next year or so), my wife and I have begun realising some profits from our real investment investments over the years into generating less labour-intensive investments such as REITS. As such, you can expect to see more of me/us in your upcoming workshops if we are in town.

I found the class today very insightful, and was very glad to be there. To hear insights to the point and relevant to buying REITS and current REIT affairs such as the proposed 1st Ever Reit takeover was especially helpful because of the current challenging context for REITS.  Was very glad to have learnt so much.

Looking forward to meeting the CEO of REITS that Gabriel connects and arranged for his students. I'm especially looking forward to being connected to any (private?) placements from Reits that Gabriel was sharing that he had access to, for students of his class.
